Speakers: Dr. Ali Ebrahim – Computer Engineering Department, University of Bahrain
Moderator: Wafeeq Ajoor, Chair, IEEE ComSoc Bahrain Chapter
Date: Monday, 19 February 2024
Time: 14:00-15:00 Bahrain (GMT+3)
Venue: Online (IEEE ComSoc Bahrain Chapter Zoom Account)
About the Workshop:This workshop will go through the essential knowledge needed to prototype simple IoT applications using the MQTT protocol. The workshop will include a high-level description of IoT concepts, MQTT protocol, Microcontrollers, and embedded software development. Attendees will gain practical knowledge in programming the popular ESP32 microcontroller module and using the Arduino IDE. After attending this workshop, attendees should be able to implement a simple MQTT client on an ESP32 board, connect the ESP32 to an MQTT broker and perform simple Publish/Subscribe transactions.
Values & Outcomes:
20 attendees (3 IEEE members, 17 students), high audience engagement due to hands-on workshop nature, open research/project opportunity with speaker, all required material was shared, and university/education engagement and collaboration.
